NEWPORT NEWS — Robert Mitchell Lockhart, 69, of Newport News passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grace and Robert Lockhart.
He proudly served 21 years in the U.S. Navy and received a Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and Joint Meritorious Unit Award.
He was a member of the DAV – Chapter 2, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Grace Lockhart; two daughters and their husbands, Crystal Lockhart-Adams (Geoffrey Adams) and Haidee McKain (Mark McKain); siblings, John Lockhart, Marian Lockhart (sister-in-law); a granddaughter, Addison McKain; and nieces, Cheryl Boggess and Shanna Glatz.
The family will receive friends 5-7 pm Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Denbigh Chapel. A graveside service will be held 9 a.m. Wednesday, September 15, 2021 in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veteran Cemetery.
