
NEWPORT NEWS — Donald Victor Detloff Sr., 93, died Saturday, Dec., 19, 2020, of complications from COVID-19.
Donald was born Aug. 7, 1927, and was a native of Illinois. He had been a Peninsula resident since 2001 and was a resident of The Chesapeake Retirement Community. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will also be warmly remembered by Doris Shea and all of his friends that he enjoyed time with throughout the 15 years at The Chesapeake retirement community.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Lorraine Henrietta Neumann Detloff.
Survivors include his sister, Helen Knights of Westminster, Colorado; son, retired U.S. Navy MMCM Jeffrey Alan Detloff, his wife, Donna, and granddaughter, Michele Sullivan, and her husband, Matthew, of Newport News; son, Donald Detloff Jr., his wife, Renee, and three granddaughters, Deven Wilson, and her husband, Kevin, Dominique Friebel, and her husband, Jeff, and Danen Busch, and her husband, Eric; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at The Chesapeake retirement community. Interment will be held in Illinois.
