WILLIAMSBURG — Geraldine “Angel” Galloway, 75, gracefully departed this life Thursday, Aug. 6, 2020. She was born Dec. 23, 1944, to the late Solomon and Juliann Anthony in Montgomery, Alabama.

Geraldine attended school in Montgomery. Upon moving to Virginia, she worked at Patrick Henry Inn, Williamsburg; and at Walmart, Newport News, for many years.

She was a member of HOPE Manifested Ministries, in Hampton, where she was an usher, sang with the Women’s Ministry, worked in hospitality, served as treasurer and was a mothering voice to those in her presence.

She had a ministry of loving people. A mother to many, she expressed her love by feeding hundreds of people, including family and friends. Her smile was contagious and she loved making people laugh.

In her last days, she always thanked God for loving and keeping her. She was a prayer warrior, praying for her family. She gave wisdom and lessons of biblical revelation to those around her. Her message was a message of triumph. Through all the adversities and challenges of life, she overcame because she knew through Christ, she could do all things. In the last weeks of her life, death would not stop her message, nor her legacy. She was a warrior, a fighter, and, at the same time, a beautiful queen with a strong voice and beautiful smile. Her legacy will live on through her family as the mantle is taken up to do what she instructed in some of her last words, “be obedient to God and love one another.” When you told her that you loved her, she would respond with, “I love you more.”

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Galloway; and two sisters, Julia Mae Gary and Betty Jean Anthony.

Geraldine’s legacy will continue to live through her two daughters, Jennifer Galloway and Sandra Galloway, both of Newport News; six grandchildren, Latasha Galloway, Shronda Galloway, Tabatha Galloway, Antoine Galloway, Alexis Galloway and Shanee’ Galloway; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces, Dynetta Vann, who she helped raise; pastor, Teresa A. Lassiter (Johnny); family friend, Charles Taylor; and a host of family and friends.

A private family funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 14. Facebook Livestream will be available for this service.

Share online condolences with the family at Whiting’s Funeral Home.
