God’s angels visited Clarice B. Jones, 82, Friday morning, March 6, 2020, at Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia, and took her home with them to heaven.
Clarice was born Jan. 16, 1938, in Williamsburg, the daughter of late Jerline and Charlie Bowman.
Clarice married Levi D. Jones April 15, 1961. They resided in Williamsburg and raised two daughters, Clovia Y. Jones and Cheryl L. Jones.
Clarice loved cooking, gardening, home decorating and conversating with family about life, finances and well-being. She was an outstanding mother who ensured that her two daughters were equipped with all the required tools to be successful women and citizens. They are truly a reflection of God and her works.
Clarice was a very outspoken person who loved her family and enjoyed spending as much time with them as possible at family gatherings. She loved to cook for her family. It was nothing for her to cook an entire dinner for any family member who visited her.
She was preceded in death by her husband and siblings, Charles and Harold Bowman.
She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories with her daughters, Clovia Y. and Cheryl L. Jones; sisters, Virginia Frazier and Delores Johnson; two sisters-in-law, Rose May and Bessie Jones; cousins, Oliver Leigh, Phyllis Ned, Bertha Crew, and Marjorie Crew; and a host of devoted nieces, cousins, and friends.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 21, at Whiting’s Chapel, with Pastor Valerie Matthews officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 12:30 p.m. Mrs. Jones may be viewed beginning at 11 a.m. until the hour of her service.
Share online condolences with the family at Whiting’s Funeral Home.
