
Doris Virginia Loper, 91, passed away peacefully Monday, Dec. 2, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Loper was born Aug. 1, 1928, in Sunflower Plantation, Mississippi, to the late Jasper and Mary McIntyre. She was a teacher in Mississippi and Virginia for many years. Mrs. Loper was an active member of several Baptist churches in Mississippi and Virginia. Doris loved her church and was active in missions. She was past president of the WMU and taught the adult Sunday school class for many years. Doris was an accomplished Avon sales representative for over 20 years.
Mrs. Loper will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Vicki Richard, and her husband, Edward, and Peggy Preston; son, Terrell Loper; seven grandchildren, Michael Preston, Robert Preston, Felicia Richard, Jessica Richard, Rebecca Richard, Tyler Loper and Sara Loper; two great-grandchildren, Dominic and Michael; and numerous extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by both parents; husband, David Loper; daughter, Debbie Jeffries; grandson, Eric Loper; and four brothers and seven sisters.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 6, at Family Choice Funerals & Cremations. A celebration of life will be held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday Dec. 7, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park.
