
John Howard Murray, 80, of Williamsburg and formerly of Ramsey, New Jersey, passed away at his home Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018.
John was born May 23, 1938, in Springfield Township, New Jersey, the son of Anna Mae Wheeler.
He served four years in the U.S. Army, then graduated from George Washington University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business.
John moved to Monroe, New York, followed by Ramsey, New Jersey, where he had a successful career working for Nabisco Brands Inc., retiring as president of their Sales and Distribution Division. He owned and operated radio station WENG AM in Englewood, Florida, until 2004 and then relocated to Williamsburg.
John enjoyed playing many sports, especially golf and was a loyal fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. One of his most proud accomplishments was earning his pilot’s license.
John will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Beverly; along with their daughters, Melaney (Ron McLellan), Amy (Chris Ferrick) and Lori (Matt DuBois); grandchildren, Lilly, Colin and Ryan; sister, Theresa Sager; brother-in-law, Eugene Behme (Susan); and niece and many nephews.
Visitation will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 17, followed by funeral services at 3 p.m. at Saint Bede Catholic Church, Williamsburg.
