Charles T. Shapley, 85, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2018. He was born in Marietta, Ohio, to the late Charles and Evelyn Shapley.
Charles proudly served his country for 21 years in the U.S. Navy and retired as a chief. After his Navy career, he went on to work at Addressograph in Virginia Beach. He was an avid gardener and flew planes as a hobby.
Charles was preceded in death by his son, Stephen.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Joan; two sons, Chuck Jr. (Kathy) and John (Theresa); daughter, Judy Lewis (Bill); and two grandchildren.
Charles’ funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 28, at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
