Daniel F. Walsh, 63, of Virginia Beach, passed away peacefully Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, with his wife of 36 years, Emily Edelman Walsh, by his side.

Born in Worcester, Mass., he was the son of the late Joseph and Gertrude Goulden Walsh. He was the son-in-law of Anita Edelman, and her husband, the late Asher Edelman Jr.

Dan retired as a senior chief storekeeper after serving 22 years in the U.S. Navy where he earned the Joint Services Commendation Medal. Following military retirement, he continued to serve his country as a government employee assigned to a Naval Special Warfare unit.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Amie Walsh; grandchildren, Anthony, Azaiyah and Alijah Roberts; brother, Joseph Walsh (Renee); brother-in-law, Asher Edelman IV (Deborah); two nieces, Kathleen McGurk (Denny) and Tabitha Schneider; four nephews, Jeffrey Walsh (Sheryl), Joseph Walsh III, Brian Edelman (Candi) and Christopher Edelman (Lori); four great-nieces; four great-nephews; and the family dog, Trixie.

Dan was an ardent fan of both the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox.

A service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 19, at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, 717 Tucson Drive, Virginia Beach.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Navy SEAL Foundation.
