
Robert D. ‘Bob’ Bloomer, 70, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017.
Born in Rome, N.Y., he was the son of the late Royal and Velma Bloomer. He grew up in the Glens Falls/Lake George area in New York. He was a graduate of Hudson Falls, Class of 1965, in Hudson Falls, N.Y.
Bob served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam and retired as a quality assurance specialist after 36 years from Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a member of Galilee Episcopal Church and a former member of Cypress Point Golf Club. He enjoyed gardening, target shooting, traveling and antiques. Bob was an avid Redskins and NASCAR fan and loved his Mustang convertible.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kate Ewing Best Bloomer; two daughters, Karen Best Habighorst, and her husband, Thomas, of Leesburg, Va., and Renee Thompson of Florida; two sons, Charles W. Best III, of Virginia Beach, Va., and Thomas Ewing Best, and his wife, Lee, of Georgia; and six grandchildren, Amanda Whitt, Julie Habighorst, Charles W. Best IV, Noelle Best, Carter Best and Aaron Best.
The family wishes to thank doctors Jason Alper, John Griffin, Deepak Talreja and Michael Danso for their excellent care.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday, June 26, at Galilee Episcopal Church with the Rev. Kathleen M. Bobbitt and Rev. Nigel W. D. Mumford officiating. A reception will follow services.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
