Al Harris, 87, known for his punctuality and sense of humor

Al Harris

Al Harris, 87, now has a perfect body, as he has gone to be with the Lord Friday, June 16, 2017. He would tell you he was a lot younger than 87 and would joke just to say he was a senior citizen.

Born in Pike Road, N.C., he was the son of the late Dallas and Nellie Harris. He was retired from Coca Cola. He spent 30 years in the soft drink business and will be remembered by many as ‘Mr. Coke.’ He was a member of London Bridge Baptist Church.

Al was a dedicated family man who loved having his family gathered together. He loved his yard and enjoyed working in it. He was a loving father, a friend to all, loved his grandchildren and always wanted the best for them. He was always prompt and on time — as anyone who knew him can testify to. Al was preceded in death by his wife, Bernadette Marie Harris; and a son, Alva Ray Harris.

Left to cherish his memory are a daughter, Tina Harris Phillips, and her husband, Jeff, of Virginia Beach, Va.; sister, Vernell Woolard of North Carolina; two grandchildren, Jacquie Trem, and her husband, Danny, of Florida and Kyle Phillips, and his wife, Joya, of Virginia Beach, Va.; sister-in-law, Joann Savage of Williamsburg, Va.; several nieces and nephews; and his special friend, Mary Griffin of Washington, D.C.

The family will receive friends at from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, at London Bridge Baptist Church Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of the many family members lost to cancer.

Condolences may be offered to the family at hollomon-brown.com.
