Retired U.S. Navy AVCM Earl Arthur Ruby Sr., 80, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2017.
Master Chief Ruby was born Aug. 6, 1936, in McCallum, Texas, to William and Vera Ruby. He retired as command master chief petty officer after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Ocean View Masonic Lodge, No. 335.
He was predeceased by his son, Raymond Scott Ruby.
Survivors include his wife, Marlena R. Ruby; children, Earl A Ruby Jr. and wife, Missy, Melva Rae Lawson and Laura Lee Honaker; grandchildren, Tyler Joseph Ruby, Madison Brooks Ruby, Mistique Danielle Carmine, and husband, Josh, Dakota Honaker, and wife, Withney, and Crystal Lee Lawson; and great-grandchildren, Vincent Scott Carmine and Emelyn Rose Carmine.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ocean View Masonic Lodge No. 335, 176 W. Balview Ave., Norfolk, VA, 23503; or Disabled American Veterans 4896 Kempsville Greens Parkway, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
