Edwin Burnley Powell, 74, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016. He retired as a computer technician, working for the civil service, and served in the U.S. Coast Guard. Born in Norfolk, Va., he was the son of the late Muriel Hannah Powell and Larry B. Powell.
Powell was a faithful servant of God as a deacon at Larchmont Baptist Church. Survivors include his sister, Sheila Grace Powell, his aunt, Marjorie P. Parker, and many cousins, including longtime advocate, Michael J. Farrell of Norfolk.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 2 at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, with Rev. John Dean officiating. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements. Online condolences may be offered to the family through www.hdoliver.com.
