Master Chief Robert “Doc” Clark, USN (retired), 80, of Virginia Beach,, Va., passed away on Aug. 6, 2016.
Doc was born August 21, 1935, in Rochester, N.Y. After boot camp, he attended Hospital Corpsman “A” School and served with the U.S. Marines. Other duty stations included Optical School, the USS Orion, Deep Sea Diving School, Escape Training Tank, Submarine Base, Pearl Harbor and the USS Grapple. Upon completion of Army Jump School and Underwater Swimmer School, Doc was assigned to UDT 21 and 22, SEAL Team 2 and Naval Special Warfare Group 2. Doc served as Command Master Chief, Naval Hospital Patuxent River and SEAL Team 4, completing his 32 years of active duty. His numerous military awards include two Bronze Stars with Combat “V.”
Following his service to his country, Doc received an AAS degree in Opticianry and worked as an optician. He was affiliated with the UDT/SEAL Association, Elks Lodge, Fleet Reserve Association, American Legion, VFW and Roma Lodge. He was an avid and loyal volunteer.
He was loved and will be missed and remembered by his wife, Dee, and his sons, daughters, grandchildren, sister, and many “brothers” and friends.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug 10, 2016, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, 3600 Virginia Beach, Blvd., Virginia Beach, Va. A military funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug 11, at Little Creek Base Chapel at Joint Expeditionary Base, 1160 D St., Virginia Beach, Va. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug 12, at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, Va..
