Harold Saunders, 82, and Erma Lou Saunders, 79, went home to be with their Lord this past weekend. Erma passed away on Friday, Aug. 5, 2016, and Harold passed away on Saturday, Aug. 6.
Both were born in Norfolk. Harold enjoyed farming and gardening. Erma enjoyed crafts, crocheting and Bingo. They had been married for 59 years and were inseparable.
They were predeceased by Erma’s parents, Ira and Vivian Waterfield Jones, and brother, Bradford Jones; Harold’s parents, Eugene and Evelyn Henley Saunders, and siblings, Thomas, Ivan, Richard; and Pete Saunders and Ruby Picket.
Left to cherish their memory are their loving son, Harold Douglas Saunders of Virginia Beach, Va., and Erma’s sister, Cathy Helms of Raleigh, N.C.
A life celebration service will be at 5 p.m. Thursday Aug. 11, 2016, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 929 Battlefield Blvd. S, Chesapeake, Va. with Pastor John J. Boyer officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Church of Christ at Creeds, or to the Sentara Hospice House.
