Orville L. “Jack” Hammond, 92, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2016, in Shiloh, N.C.

Jack was a foreman and specialized in making neon lighting during his 41 years of dedicated service with Cardinal Sign Company in Virginia Beach, Va. A lover of country music, Jack enjoyed playing the banjo and guitar for friends and family. Jack was fond of fishing, seafood and travelling to Kingsport, Tenn., to visit loved ones.
Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Ruth C. Hammond; daughter, Catherine M. Hammond; parents, Prentis and Pearl Hammond; and sister, Lillian K. Cartwright.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Lina E. Marshall, Deborah L. Latta, Diana R. Fish and Faye Harmon; sons, Earnest B. Hammond, Woody McFaden, Myron Hammond and Keith Hammond; sister, Alma J. Hussey; brother, Wayne Hammond; 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, July 28, 2016, at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, Va. A funeral service will be at noon Thursday, July 28, at the funeral home, followed by burial and a reception.
