
Harvey Homer Longley, 78, went to be with the Lord Monday, June 6, 2016. He was born in Bakersfield, Vt., to the late Thayer and Marguerite Greenwood Longley. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of Star of the Sea Catholic Church.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his siblings, Thayer Jr., Frank, Carlton and Esther.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 59 years, Mary Rose Longley; children, Patricia Ogden, Timothy Longley and Donna McClung; grandchildren, Jonathan Simmons, Jennifer Valadez, Rebecca Willis, Eric Longley, Amanda Knoblach, Amber Longley, Douglas McClung Jr. and Dawn Werderman; great-grandchildren, Jackson Simmons, Ryan Strain, Baby Boy Willis, Joshua Longley, Marleigh Longley, Jayden Knoblach, Liam Knoblach, Tayela Kitchens, Rylee Kitchens, Miah Longley, Brett McClung, Ethan McClung, Nathaniel Werderman and Wyatt Werderman; brother, Lee; sisters, Amelia and Barbara; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Maestas Chapel, 1801 Baltic Ave. Virginia Beach. A Mass of the resurrection will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 9, at Star of the Sea Catholic Church with U.S. Army honors being rendered following Mass. Burial will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park.
