Robert James ‘Bob’ Price, 75, of Virginia Beach, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 1, 2016. Bob was born on September 10, 1940, to the Edward and Mary (formerly Barlow) Nevins in Atlantic City, N.J.

Bob served his country for 23 years as an aviation electrician in the U.S. Navy. He later went on to Naval Air Rework Facility for 12 years, where his work continued serving those who serve. He served our Lord by worshiping at Tidewater Church of Christ in Chesapeake, where he also served as a volunteer teacher.

Bob was an avid glass-bottle collector, procuring most of his finds from beneath the ground. He also created wooden toys to provide delight to some of the local children. Amid these talents, he was a renown handyman who could fix anything.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark David Price; sister-in-law, Lora Price; and nephew, Freddy Brooks Jr.

Left to cherish Bob’s memory are his wife of 54 years Dorothy ‘Dot’ (formerly Brooks); daughter, Robbin Lynn Price Brown, and her husband, Douglas; granddaughters, Lisa Zimmerman, and her husband, Danny and Krystal Mathery, and her husband, Matthew; grandson, Johnathan Price; great-granddaughter, Nyanna; sister, Mary Garrison, and her husband, Jay; sister, Ellen Adams; and brothers, Ed Nevins, and his wife, Kathy, and Bill Price.

A visitation will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 5, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Southside Chapel, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach. A funeral service will follow visitation at noon. A procession to Colonial Grove Memorial Park will follow the funeral.

Special thanks to Robert, David, the staff of King’s Grant House and the staff of Gentiva Hospice for all the care and concern shown to Bob, and for the many countless others for all they have done to help us in our time of need.

He may be with the Lord, but he will always be remembered by family and friends.
