
Raymond Ernest ‘Ramie,’ ‘Ray’ Klabnik Jr., 56, went to be with the Lord and his parents on Friday, April 1, 2016. Ray passed away at his home in Virginia Beach.
Ray was born in Tarentum, Pa.,on June 3, 1959. He was the eldest son of Raymond Ernest Klabnik Sr. and Nancy Jane Derringer Klabnik, both deceased. Ray graduated from Highlands High school in 1977. He started at Newport News Shipyard in 1979. Ray graduated from the Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice School, Class of 1984, studying the shipfitter trade and graduated a year early. Ray was an apprentice instructor and an Apprentice School recruiter before moving up into CAD design. Ray retired from the Shipyard in 2012 as an E51 designer 3.
Ray was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 4632 and Father Nicholas Habets Assembly 1505.
Ray is survived by his younger brother, William Lee Klabnik; sister-in-law, Glenna Margaret; niece, Nancy Margaret; and an abundance of extended family members and friends in Pennsylvania and Virginia.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 7, at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts on Laskin Road. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 8, at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church. Online condolences may be made to the family at hdoliver.com.
