Evangelia (Litsa) Kolantis, 88, of Virginia Beach, passed away Monday, March 28, 2016. She was born in Larissa, Greece, the daughter of the late Demetre and Eirene Vazitari.
She was a longtime member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Norfolk and an active member of the church choir. She was a proud and giving Yia Yia and had a love for entertaining and cooking for her family and friends.
Her loving husband of over 57 years, Gus Kolantis, preceded her in death, as did several siblings.
Left to cherish her memories are two daughters, Irene Cashwell, and her husband, Douglas, and Helen Price, and her husband, Ricky, all of Virginia Beach; a sister, Demetra (Beba) of Athens, Greece; three granddaughters, Tayler Price, Kathryne Cashwell and Cameron Cashwell, all of Virginia Beach; her best friend, Koulla Ioanou; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, April 1, at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Small Chapel, 7220 Granby St., Norfolk, with Father George Bessinas officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Afterward, the family will receive relatives and friends in the small hall at the church.
The family would like to thank the caring staff and residents at Sentara Village of Virginia Beach.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, Hampton Roads.
