Gay Delilah ‘Gail’ Gilmore answered the Master’s call to receive her angel wings on Thursday, February 25, 2016. She was born November 29, 1950, to Grace McDaniel and the late A.C. Magee in New Orleans, La.
Gail, as she was often referred to, was raised in McComb, Miss., where she resided with her family during her early childhood. She later moved to Long Beach, Calif., where she attended Long Beach City College for nursing and received her nursing certification.
She was employed with Canon Inc. as an engineer for four years, and later at Eastman Inc. for eight years. After receiving her Child Development Certificate, Gay later decided to pursue early childhood education as a daycare provider until her retirement.
Gay was always about her family and friends. She enjoyed long walks on the beach, cooking for family and friends, planting flowers with her granddaughter, and often you could find her relaxing on her deck.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Erroll D. Gilmore; two daughters, Kimberly E. Magee-Gilmore and Rekia K. Gilmore; one sister, Loretta Magee; one brother, Eddie Magee; three grandchildren, Kemanni MacGallister, Mekhi Gilmore and Nyemah Gilmore; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 11, at Beach Funeral & Cremation Services. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, at the funeral home. Interment will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 14, in Albert G. Horton Veteran Cemetery, Suffolk.
