Marjorie Louise Carey, 102, kind and special lady devoted to family, friends and faith

Marjorie Louise Carey (nee Fleming) died peacefully at home Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015, just shy of her 103rd birthday.

She was married to John Patrick Carey Jr. for nearly six decades until his death and she is survived by her four children, nine grandchildren and 18-plus great-grandchildren.

“Margie,” as she was known, was born and raised in Bronx, New York and lived there until moving to Williamsburg in 1986. Known to all as a kind and special lady, she was devoted to her family, her friends, and her faith. Her service commitments included the Altar Guild, Medical Missions and Sodality in New York and Young at Heart, Church Women United and Envoy Nursing Home volunteer here in Williamsburg.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015, at St. Bede Catholic Church followed by interment of her ashes. Her family will host a celebration of her life lunch and “birthday party” that afternoon.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Catholic Relief Services.
