William “Bill” Sulzberger, of Yorktown, died Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at the age of 83.
He was a native of Hampton and a lifelong resident of the Peninsula, living in Yorktown for over 60 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and retired from Vepco in 1987 after 30 years. He was member of Grafton Christian Church and active chairman of the board. He was a past master and member of the Yorktown Masonic Lodge 205 A.F. & A.M. He was a volunteer at Warwick Forrest Convalescent Center for 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Ann Sulzberger and a grandson, Dustin Wells and is survived by his daughters, Suzanne Tarr (Wayne), of Gloucester and Cynthia Wells (Cleon), of Seaford; a sister, Sally Johnson, of Hampton; grandchildren, Jessica Tarr and Ian Tarr (Christina); and a great-grandson, Logan Robbins.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, at Amory Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014, at Grafton Christian Church, conducted by the Rev. Vanessa Falgoust and the Rev. John Falk. Interment will follow with military honors and Masonic Rites at the church cemetery.
