Shicquita N. Meekins, of Williamsburg, died Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at the age of 27. She slipped into a peaceful sleep at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Her life began on April 19, 1987, the daughter of Aretha M. Meekins and Clarence Barbour, Jr. She was a loving and devoted mother and daughter whose love for her family and friends was apparent to all who knew her. To know her was to love her and she will be truly missed by all. We find comfort in knowing she is at peace and in no more pain, resting in the arms of Jesus.
She leaves to treasure her blessed memories her twins, Ke’Asia and Ke’Vonta Meekins; mother, Aretha M. “Missy” Meekins; father, Clarence Barbour, Jr.; sisters, Michelle Kelso and Kelly Ashlock; brother, Paul Richardson; paternal grandmother, Gladys Barbour; aunts, Robin Carter, Wendy Hawkins, Debbie Barbour and Mary Barbour; uncles, Billy Meekins, Robert Barbour and Thomas Carter; nine great-aunts; two great-uncles; great-godmother, Minister Bernice Vaughan; devoted companion, Khalid Abdullah, Sr.; and many other loving relatives and caring friends.
Ms. Meekins may be viewed from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Whiting’s Funeral Home. Family and friends will assemble by noon Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at 3814 Straffordshire Lane for a funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. at Whiting’s Chapel with the Rev. Corwin R. Hammond officiating. Interment will follow at Williamsburg Memorial Park.
