Edward Ross Vogel served honorably in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII. He attended Brooks School in Massachusetts before graduating from Princeton University in 1947 and in 1951 he married Joy Grosset. Together, they had two lovely daughters, Katharine and Torrey.
Mr. Vogel, while at Spring Arbor of Williamsburg, died on Friday, Oct. 11, 2013.
He worked at Allied Chemical and then Mobil Oil, where he became a marketing executive. He finished his career in New Zealand before retiring from Exxon/Mobil in 1990. As an avid tennis player, Mr. Vogel played daily at the Kingsmill Tennis Club until the untimely death of his wife in 2008. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his daughters, Mr. Vogel is survived by his son-in-law Leon; grandchildren, Adam, Branan and Sarah; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service organized by his daughters will be held in Chester at a date to be set in December.
Mr. Vogel’s family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Spring Arbor and Heartland Hospice, who worked tirelessly to make Ross comfortable during his later years.
