William and Mary Director of Athletics Terry Driscoll has announced the Tribe’s 2013 football schedule, which is highlighted by six home games at Zable Stadium and a season-opening trip to West Virginia.

The 12-game slate, which matches the most scheduled regular-season games in school history (1932), will begin with a trip to West Virginia on Aug. 31. The contest will mark the first meeting between the two programs since 1972 when the Mountaineers earned a 49-34 victory in Morgantown.

W&M will open its home slate the following weekend when it hosts Hampton. The College owns a 3-0 record against the Pirates and earned a 42-35 victory in the teams’ last meeting in 2004, which was a first-round NCAA Playoff matchup.

After a road game at Lafayette on Sept. 14, the Tribe will begin conference play when it hosts Rhode Island on Sept. 21 as part of the College’s Family Weekend. W&M controls the all-time series against the Rams, 12-3, and is undefeated versus URI in Williamsburg (6-0).

Following an open week, the Green and Gold will return to action at Villanova on Oct. 5. W&M has won the past two meetings with the Wildcats and controls the all-time series, 16-13-1.

The College will take a break from its CAA slate when it hosts Penn on Oct. 12, marking the second consecutive season in which the teams have met in a mid-season non-conference matchup. W&M won last season’s contest, 34-28, and owns a five-game winning streak in the series.

The Tribe will resume league play at Maine on Oct. 19 before hosting a pair of conference foes the following two weeks with a homecoming game against James Madison (Oct. 26) and a matchup with New Hampshire (Nov. 2). The College earned a 24-3 victory against JMU in the teams’ last homecoming contest at Zable Stadium in 2009.

After a trip to Delaware (Nov. 9) and a home game against Towson (Nov. 16), W&M will close out the regular season at Richmond on Nov. 23. The contest versus the Spiders will mark the 123rd meeting between the two programs.

Kickoff times will be announced at a later date.
