TOANO — Despite rumors circulating on social media, Toano Middle School is not closing. In a public group on Facebook, questions about whether the school was closing due to COVID-19 cases had parents wondering what was going on.
“We had three students test positive last week, but they have not been in the building since then. They are now quarantining at home,” said Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools spokesperson, Eileen Cox.
According to WJCC Public School’s COVID-19 dashboard, five staff members of the school district have also tested positive, but with the most recent case being back on Mar. 16. The three students at Toano Middle School that tested positive were on April 13 and 15.
Cox added that school operations are to continue as normal.
