VIRGINIA BEACH — Heavy storms can negatively impact Virginia Beach neighborhoods and one organization wants to teach the community about flood insurance basics.
Abbott Insurance and local group Stop The Flooding Now are teaming up Saturday at the Bow Creek Municipal Recreation Center from 9-11 a.m. to educate the public.
The workshop will focus on finding flood zones in the city, who needs the insurance, what it can do for residents and changes to the National Flood Insurance Program.
A presentation will begin at 9:15 a.m. and guests who attend will also receive a free flood zone determination.
The event organizer asks that all who would like to attend to RSVP beforehand.
