Williamsburg, VA 23188
A James City County home in Mirror Lake Estates — a subdivision off Croaker Road — was damaged by a grease fire Saturday afternoon, a fire department spokesperson said.
The fire started from a pan of grease on the stove in the kitchen, but reached the attic where the fire was heaviest, said Billy Apperson of the James City-Bruton Volunteer Fire Department.
The home sustained about $53,000 in damages, he said. No one was injured in the blaze.
Eighteen firefighters and two medics were on the scene at 119 Fairmont Drive for less than an hour around 1:10 p.m. Saturday.
Crews from both York County Fire and Life Safety and James City County Fire Department responded to the scene.
There were no injuries, according to Apperson.
Correction: A previous version of this story contained a misspelling. The correct name of the road is Fairmont Drive.
