This Week in Crime: Man Accused of Writing Bad Checks for More than $5,000

JCC Man Accused of Writing Bad Checks for More Than $5,000

A James City County Man is facing two felonies after he allegedly wrote some bad checks to a bank that police say netted him more than $5,000.

Maj. Greg Riley of the Williamsburg Police Department said 55-year-old Frank Jozef Christian is believed to have cashed the checks at Virginia Company Bank sometime between May 21 and Aug. 22. The matter was reported to police in August, at which point investigators began to work the case. Warrants were obtained for his arrest April 18.

Christian faces two felony counts of obtaining money by false pretenses.

York County

Deputies Seek Armed Robbery, Home Break-In Suspects

Deputies from the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office and the Williamsburg Police Department have asked for the public’s help finding a couple of men believed to have been involved in crime in Upper York County and Williamsburg.

They seek 25-year-old Steve Lorenzo Olvis in connection to two armed robberies near Bypass Road. Read more about that here.

They are also looking for 22-year-old Larry Eugene Coney Jr. of Newport News, who is believed to have been involved in two residential break-ins, one each in Upper York County and Williamsburg. Read more about him here.

Deputies are also searching for 23-year-old Quashawn Byrd and 19-year-old Nijel Dudley, both of whom live in Newport News. Investigators believe the two men broke into 13 vehicles in the overnight hours between March 30 and 31. Read about them here.
