Tuesday is Election Day in Virginia, with voters turning out to elect a new governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general to Richmond along with a host of local officials who are also on ballots.

Registration for Tuesday’s election ended Oct. 15. Any eligible voter who signed up before that date may participate in the election.
Keep in mind that all schools in both the York County School Division and the Williamsburg-James City County School Division will be closed for election day.
Statewide Elections
Historic Triangle voters will see three candidates for governor on their ballot. WYDaily sent identical questionnaires to all three candidates, and their answers can be found after their name:
- Republican Ken Cuccinelli (questionnaire)

- Libertarian Robert Sarvis (questionnaire)
The three candidates have been aggressively campaigning across the state in the weeks leading up to the election. Cuccinelli campaigned with Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, former Texas congressman Ron Paul, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and other prominent Republicans in the weeks and days before the election. McAuliffe has campaigned with President Barack Obama, former President Bill Clinton, former Senator and Sec. of State Hillary Clinton, Virginia’s Sen. Mark Warner and more.
The candidates for lieutenant governor are as follows:

- Democrat Ralph S. Northam
The candidates for attorney general are as follows:
- Republican Mark D. Obenshain
- Democrat Mark R. Herring
Delegate Races
Williamsburg, parts of James City and York counties and part of Newport News are all represented by the 93rd District seat in the Virginia House of Delegates. WYDaily sent an identical questionnaire to each candidate, which can be found after their name:

Brenda Pogge currently represents the 96th District of the House of Delegates, which includes part of Newport News and parts of James City and York counties. She is also up for re-election and is running unopposed.
