WILLIAMSBURG — Wagsters Magic Theater will be moving to a new, larger location in High Street later this year.

After two years, over 350 performances and 22,000 guests, The Wagsters Magic Theatre announced it has outgrown its current location off Olde Towne Road behind the Williamsburg Premium Outlets and will be relocating its show and venue to a brand-new, 7,500 square-foot facility at 1430 High Street in late fall.

Brandon and Hannah Wagster, award-winning illusionists and owners of The Wagsters Magic Theatre, arrived in Williamsburg in the spring of 2022 to pursue the dream of opening their own theatre to produce a unique theatrical magic experience. After a decade of sharing their magic in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and performing over 1,000 live shows, they decided Virginia’s Historic Triangle was the perfect place to pursue this lifelong ambition.

The current location, which they affectionately refer to as “the big metal building behind Food Lion,” housed an intimate theatre that seats only 75 seats, plus a gift shop and space for serving freshly-popped popcorn.

The Wagsters say that weeks after opening their doors, show after show began selling out as they and received praise from locals and tourists, earned over 1100 Five Star Online Reviews, TripAdvisor’s Award of Excellence, and were voted Best Family Friendly Attraction from Coastal Virginia Magazine Readers’ Choice Awards.

The duo said they knew quickly that they would outgrow their location sooner than later, and have kept an eye out for a new spot that could house their growing pursuits. Thanks to the collaboration of Joe Singley with RJS & Associates Inc, the Wagsters realized that High Street would be the perfect location to expand.

The New Wagsters Magic Theatre will be able to seat up to 128 guests, they said.

“So many of our guests have begged us to keep the current intimacy we have. They love being up close to the action. We wanted to make sure we kept that unique quality our visitors have come to know and love,” shared Hannah.

The Wagsters and their team are most excited about the expansion of backstage.

“There isn’t much you can do with 200 square feet of backstage space, but we’ve made it work.” said Brandon Wagster. “However, with 1,000 square feet… well, you can imagine our minds are already racing with the ways we will be able to grow our show and continue to blow away this wonderful city we have fallen in love with.”

“We just had our first child too, so this is the perfect time to make the move.” laughed Hannah. “It’s been just the two of us over the last 15 years together, but now everything we are doing is for our little girl.”

The Wagsters have future plans for new shows, community outreach opportunities, and the return of their wildly successful magic summer camps. If all goes to plan, the new location will be open and operating in time for their Christmas Spectacular which starts in November and always sells out.
