GRAFTON — A professional building in Grafton has been condemned after a vehicle crashed into it on Sunday, Nov. 28, 2021.
At around 10:50 a.m., the York County Department of Fire and Life Safety (YCFLS) responded to One of a Kind Business Offices, located at 445 Grafton Drive off of George Washington Memorial Highway (Route 17).
*Shelley Ward, public information officer for York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office (YPSO), noted that witnesses reported seeing a pickup truck veering over the median on George Washington Memorial Highway (Route 17), through the parking lot of Graftex, 6113 George Washington Memorial Hwy. (Route 17), before crossing Grafton Drive and hitting the office building at a high rate of speed.
According to YCFLS Fire Chief/Director Stephen P. Kopczynski, units discovered one individual who required treatment and transportation to *Riverside Regional Medical Center as a precaution. This person has only been identified as the operator of the pickup truck.
*Ward stated that the driver appeared to have suffered a medical emergency while he was driving.
*One of a Kind Business Offices was empty at the time of the crash.

*At that time, it was determined that the pickup truck was a total loss.
Chief Kopczynski noted that upon inspection by the Building Official, the structure was condemned until repairs could be made in order to allow for re-occupancy.
