Discussion of Recreational Facilities Authority on York County Board of Supervisors Agenda

YORK COUNTY — The York County Board of Supervisors (BOS) will hold a meeting on Nov. 16 at 6 p.m. at York Hall, 301 Main Street.

The meeting agenda contains several items up for discussion, including an effort to promote sports tourism in the Historic Triangle through the construction of an indoor sports complex.

Resolution R21-148, that allows for York County to join the City of Williamsburg and James City County in forming the Historic Triangle Public Recreational Facilities Authority.

According to a memorandum from County Administrator Neil A. Morgan, if formed, the Authority’s initial purpose would be for the, “…acquiring, constructing, and operating one or more public recreational facilities to not only serve the citizens of the Participating Localities, but also to promote and enhance recreation, sports and tourism activities in the geographic area.”

Morgan also said in the memo that he anticipates detailed recommendations pertaining to York County and the Region’s financial participation once the Authority is lawfully created.
