YORK COUNTY — Virginia State Police (VSP) are investing a two vehicle crash on Rochambeau Dr., which killed a Williamsburg man and left two others with non-life threatening injuries.
On Wednesday, May 19, VSP received a call at approximately 9:27 p.m. regarding a crash at 701 Rochambeau Dr. in Williamsburg.
Upon arrival, VSP found Douglas Alonzo Wright, Jr., 31, of Williamsburg, entrapped in his 1991 Chevrolet Cavalier. He was pronounced dead shortly after.
Preliminary investigations found that Wright was traveling westbound on Rochambeau Dr. when he crossed the center line and struck a 2006 Volkswagen Beetle head on, which was traveling in the eastbound lanes.
The driver of the Volkswagen, Gregory N. Dockery, Jr., as well as his passenger, Daniel E. Jones, were both transported to Riverside Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
It was determined that neither alcohol nor speed were contributing factors.
