WILLIAMSBURG — Residents looking to weigh in on what building materials are approved in the City of Williamsburg are in luck.

The city’s Architectural Review Board is hosting an event to showcase various building materials as part of the board’s decision to update the design review guidelines.

“We want people to be able to experience the new materials by seeing and touching them,” said Erin Burke, the city’s principal planner.

According to the City of Williamsburg’s news release, the showcase gives residents a chance to see the materials before the board updates the guidelines as to which “are a set of rules regarding design elements on structures” throughout Williamsburg.

In addition, the Architectural Review Board will have public meetings regarding the new proposed building materials before updating the final guidelines in the fall.

“The ARB has long planned for this showcase to be a part of updating the design guidelines, but it has been delayed since last year due to the pandemic,” according to the City of Williamsburg. “The Design Review Guidelines were last updated in 2013; this update coincides with the Comprehensive Plan update.”

The Building Products Showcase will be held outside of the Stryker Center, 402 North Boundary St., on Monday, May 10 from 2-6 p.m.

Residents can also email their comments to the Architectural Review Board to Erin Burke at eburke@williamsburgva.gov.
