WILLIAMSBURG — The Williamsburg Farmers Market is joining markets across the nation in celebrating National Farmers Market Week Aug. 3–9.
According to the city, the annual event, coordinated by the Farmers Market Coalition, “recognizes the vital role farmers’ markets play in supporting local agriculture, food access, and community connections.”
Now in its 23rd season, the Williamsburg Farmers Market has become a Saturday morning tradition for residents and visitors alike, the city said, operating from 8 a.m. to noon each week. With more than 40 vendors offering locally grown produce, meats, seafood, baked goods, cut flowers, and artisan foods, the market “fosters a direct relationship between farmers and shoppers that strengthens the local economy and promotes sustainable food systems,” it adds.
“Farmers markets are more than just places to shop; they’re where people gather, stories are shared, and the values of community and connection are cultivated,” said Market Manager Mollie Romero. “National Farmers Market Week is a chance for us to thank our vendors, celebrate our shoppers, and highlight the work being done every week to make fresh, local food accessible to everyone.”
To celebrate National Farmers Market Week at the Williamsburg Farmers Market on Saturday, Aug. 9, shoppers are encouraged to wear their Williamsburg Farmers Market T-shirts and join in the celebration of everything fresh, local, and community-grown.
