NORFOLK— Norfolk International Airport is preparing to begin Global Entry interviews at its newly opened international arrivals facility, with appointments set to start March 30.
The interviews will take place in the airport’s new Federal Inspection Services (FIS) building, a key component of the airport’s ongoing expansion aimed at supporting international travel. The facility includes a dedicated Global Entry office designed to allow travelers to complete interviews without entering the main terminal.
Airport officials announced that travelers who have received conditional approval through the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Trusted Traveler Programs will be eligible to schedule interviews beginning March 30.
Global Entry is a federal program that allows pre-approved, low-risk travelers expedited clearance when entering the United States. Participants use automated kiosks, significantly reducing wait times at customs.
To enroll, applicants must first complete an online application and background check. Once conditionally approved, they must attend an in-person interview, where fingerprints and a photo are collected. Membership is valid for five years.
The return of on-site interviews at ORF comes as the airport continues to expand its international capabilities. The new FIS facility, which opened earlier this year, is part of a broader effort to attract additional international flights and improve passenger processing.
Airport leaders have said the addition of Global Entry services is a major step in enhancing the travel experience and positioning ORF as a growing international gateway for the region.
