Do you know who robbed this bank? Call the cops

NEWPORT NEWS — A bank here was robbed Friday morning, and police are asking the public’s help in finding the suspect.

The alleged bank robber was described by a teller as a white man “approximately 60 years old with a grey beard and wearing a tan jacket and jeans,” police said.

At 9:52 a.m. Thursday, dispatchers received a call about the heist from Wells Fargo in the 11000 block of Warwick Boulevard.

Police said the suspect, wearing a hat and sunglasses (with orange lens), walked into the bank and passed a note to a teller demanding money.

The teller didn’t see a weapon, police said.

After getting the cash, the suspect “fled the bank on foot,” police said.

No injuries were reported.

Authorities are asking anyone who may have information about the incident or the suspect to call the crime line at 888-LOCK-U-UP.
