Fort Eustis is 100 years old. Here’s how you can join the celebration

NEWPORT NEWS — Fort Eustis is continuing the celebration of its 100th anniversary this year.

The celebration began in April with a Fort Eustis Night with the Norfolk Tides as well as a Fort Eustis 100th Anniversary Gala.

It continues this month with a MMA Fight Night, an Open House Fun Day and a concert featuring American Idol contestant Chris Daughtry.

On July 27 at 6 p.m., come witness a live MMA fight at Fort Eustis’ Felker Army Airfield.

The main event is the Welterweight World Title Fight featuring LFA Welterweight Champion James Nakashima versus Marine Corps Sgt. Kyle “Gunz Up” Stewart.

The event will also be broadcast live on AXS TV 27. The general public is welcome to attend.

Tickets range from $10 to $35 and can be purchased online until July 24.

The celebration rolls over to the next day, July 28, at Murphy Field with the Open House Fun Day at 11 a.m. followed by Fort Eustis’ 100th Year Anniversary Celebration Concert at 6 p.m.

The Open House Fun Day is free to attend and open to the public. There will be carnival rides, zip lining, inflatable games, a mechanical bull, food trucks, pony rides, music, and more.

The concert, hosted by MTV’s “Diggity Dave,” features local talent and is headlined by platinum recording artist “DAUGHTRY” with special guest Hollywood’s own “Flashback Heart Attack.”

Concert tickets are $40 for the general public, $25 for military members and families, and $30 for Department of Defense  employees and families.

Reserved seating is available for $50 and VIP tickets are available for $100. Children 6 and younger are admitted free.
