NEWPORT NEWS — Local business owners will have a chance to talk with the city’s commissioner of revenue about new and changing tax laws.
Tiffany Boyle, the city commissioner of revenue, will hold a round-table discussion with residents from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on July 26 at 700 City Center Blvd.
Earlier this year, Congress passed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
The act, which was approved by Congress in December, will impact individual taxpayers and business owners and cause considerable alterations pertaining to dependency, itemized and standard deductions, credits, financing of education, retirement planning, tax brackets and rates, and charitable giving, according to local accountants.
Local and state legislators and members of the Denbigh-Warwick Business Association and Retail Alliance will be on hand as well.
The meeting is free and open to the public but requires an RSVP to calabresema@nnva.gov.
