The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 16-year-old Newport News resident in connection with a shooting in the Landings at Langley that injured one teenager in March.

Deputies responded to the 60 block of Eagle Loop around 7 p.m. March 13 for a report of a shooting, the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office wrote in a Facebook post.

A 14-year-old was shot in the leg, authorities said. He was taken to a local hospital.

On Wednesday, sheriff’s office investigators arrested the Newport News teen in connection with the shooting.

Law enforcement agencies do not typically release the identity of juveniles accused of crimes.

Clarification: The original version of this story said the shooting was considered a drive-by. The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office has released new information stating the shooting was not a drive-by, and the victim was “involved in illegal activity with the suspect” when he was shot.
