Here’s how to get your startup business off the ground

NEWPORT NEWS — A city-funded local business accelerator is continuing to look for applicants.

757 Accelerate is accepting applications until June 22 from companies interested in participating in a program designed to help businesses develop, according to a news release from the city.

If accepted into 757 Accelerate, companies will receive $20,000 in startup money and access to mentors, investors, support services, working space and business education.

The program also includes a three-month period to engage with customers, validate products and test business models.

757 Accelerate is funded locally by the Newport News Economic Development Authority and with federal grants.

Sponsors for 757 Accelerate include TowneBank, several localities including Norfolk, Portsmouth, Newport News and Hampton, Old Dominion University and Christopher Newport University.
