NEWPORT NEWS — Motorists will have to take a detour at the Warwick and Bland intersection.
The southbound right lane is open to traffic with intermittent closures and the northbound right lane will be closed daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. through the end of May, according to a news release from the city.
The improvements will raise the elevation of the intersection to minimize flooding and to decrease the hazard to residents and emergency responders.
The project includes new drainage structures, waterline replacement, asphalt and concrete replacement and new traffic signals to include pedestrian signs, according to the news release.
