WILLIAMSBURG — Child Development Resources cut the ribbon Thursday on its new 42,000-square-foot campus at 312 Waller Mill Road, marking the completion of a nearly five-year project before a crowd of about 200 community members, elected officials, families and donors.

“It’s a celebration for us, and really kind of a reflection on what the power of community can be, especially around the lives of children,” Executive Director Paul Scott said. “That’s how we’re going to impact our community in the future.”

CDR, a nationally recognized early childhood intervention and education provider established in 1965, now operates from a single campus designed to bring staff together after years of working in leased and scattered spaces.

The organization serves more than 1,000 families a year, primarily through home visiting programs. Leaders said the new facility allows staff to collaborate more easily across departments and improve coordination of services.

“This ribbon represents so much more than opening a new building; it represents a rite of passage for CDR,” said Carla Javier, director of children’s services. “It represents the faith, generosity and partnership with so many people who have believed in our mission and helped turn a dream into a reality.”

Among the speakers at the ribbon-cutting event were Douglas Holroyd, Chairman of York County’s Board of Supervisors, Del. Jessica Anderson and Sen. J.D. “Danny” Diggs. Five-year-old Kehlani McNeal, a CDR alumni, cut the ribbon.
