
Yorktown — York County Public Library has once again been honored at the 2026 Virginia Public Library Directors Association Conference, earning the highly regarded Standard of Excellence Gold Award for outstanding public library service.
According to the York County Public Library, the Gold Award is presented to libraries that successfully meet all statewide service requirements, including governance, funding, staffing, public access, collections, facilities, technology, programming, publicity, and advocacy. These criteria align with the Library of Virginia’s Standards for Public Libraries, reflecting the highest expectations for quality and community service.
“This achievement highlights the unwavering support of York County and the exceptional dedication of our talented library staff,” said York County Director of Library Services Kevin Smith. “We are deeply grateful for the continued commitment to excellence demonstrated by the Board of Supervisors and County Administration.”
