WILLIAMSBURG — Sparkles, squeals, friendship bracelets, and stickers could be seen and heard throughout the cafeteria at Jamestown 4-H Educational Center during the latest installment of the organization’s “Swiftie” Camp.
Children aged 8 through 15 gathered together to celebrate all things Taylor Swift on Dec. 13. Campers got to celebrate their love for the singer, including singing along to the star’s latest Eras Tour on Disney+. Activity stations were also located around the cafeteria, including a sticker station, a friendship bracelet-making station and a coloring station.
Throughout the evening, kids could be heard saying things like “this is the best night I’ve ever had” and “I’m having so much fun that I don’t want this to end.”
The group took a special moment to honor the singer’s birthday, which also falls on Dec. 13. After singing Happy Birthday, campers got to enjoy a piece of birthday cake to honor Swift on her special day.
While the campers were having a blast, the counselors for the event were just as invested as the kids.
“There are not many things in this world that an eight-year-old can have in common with a 25-year-old, and Taylor Swift is one of those things. I want them to feel like they are at a concert and that our children make lifelong friends because of this common interest,” explained Stephanie Smith, Director of Community Engagement and Group Services.
Talks of a mother/daughter Swiftie Camp are ongoing at Jamestown 4-H. Those interested in attending are asked to pay attention to Jamestown 4-H’s social media channels.
