Help Shape James City County’s 2026 Parks and Recreation Master Plan

James City County Parks and Recreation’s Social Pinpoint Website.

JAMES CITY COUNTY — James City County is asking the public for input on its 2026 Parks and Recreation Master Plan.

James City County said it has engaged the services of BerryDunn, a national consulting firm specializing in parks, recreation and open space planning, to assist it in updating the plan, which will serve as a strategic roadmap for the future of parks and recreation in the county.

According to the county, the plan will identify priorities for enhancements and improvements to parks, facilities, services, amenities and programming, “ensuring that the department continues to offer inclusive, high-quality recreational opportunities for all residents.”

The community is invited to share feedback in various ways:

  • Browse and interact with the Social Pinpoint Website, where participants can complete a short survey and explore interactive tools — such as an interactive map, a budget prioritization tool and a digital idea wall — to share preferences.
  • Participate in one of three community meetings:
  • Complete the survey:
All residents will receive a mailed survey by the end of October which will allow residents to provide detailed feedback on the department’s current offerings and what they’d like to see in the future.
  • Visit the James City County Recreation Center
Stop by the James City County Recreation Center during operating hours and visit the “listening station” to complete a comment card until Nov. 15.
