Users will be able to enjoy a more streamlined and modern browsing experience from, according to WRL. Aspen Discovery’s features include management of library accounts, saved searches for new recommended item alerts, and the ability to explore library events directly in the catalog.
“We’re thrilled to introduce our new catalog, designed to give our community a seamless and more intuitive experience,” said Library Director Sandy Towers. “Aspen Discovery makes exploring the collection engaging and ensures easier access to library materials than ever before.”
WRL said the new app, Aspen LiDA, will replicate the user’s catalog experience, including searching for materials and managing account and notification preferences.
To complete the transition, the library will be closed from Oct. 10 to 12. Library services will be temporarily unavailable during this time, including access to the Libby app, Kanopy, and online resources such as newspapers and magazines. Requests for new materials will also be paused temporarily until the new catalog is implemented, the library said.
The new catalog officially launches Oct. 13, and Aspen LiDA will be available for download on Oct. 13 by searching for “Williamsburg Regional Library” in your app store.
