YORKTOWN — Aryana Guest, a 15-year-old sophomore at Tabb High School, is currently in Orlando, Florida, competing in the Miss America’s Teen competition.
Guest, who was crowned in June, is competing against teens from all over the country for a chance to represent the Miss America organization as Miss America’s Teen.
“Miss America has done incredible things for so many young women. I know for me, it has really boosted up my public speaking confidence. Usually, I hate speaking in front of large crowds, but being Miss Virginia’s Teen, I have to do that. When I go out and I talk with either students or a different audience, those things help me for the future when I have to go into job interviews,” Guest explained in a June interview with WYDaily.
The weeklong competition features private interviews with judging panels and preliminary competitions in fitness, talent, evening wear and onstage questions.
Guest’s Community Service Initiative, “Tiny but Mighty,” focuses on spreading awareness about infant prematurity and the importance of prenatal care.
The preliminary competition kicked off on Sept. 2. Guest will perform a lyrical dance in the talent competition on Sept. 4, participate in a red carpet appearance and gala evening, before the finals competition on Sept. 6. The women’s title of Miss America will be awarded on Sept. 7, with Leesburg’s Madison Whitbeck up for the title.
The preliminary competitions and the Miss America’s Teen final competition can be streamed online through PageantVision.com, and the Miss America finals will be livestreamed worldwide on the official Miss America YouTube channel.
