Indoor Pickleball Franchise Opens in Williamsburg Saturday

WILLIAMSBURG — The Picklr, a franchise of indoor pickleball facilities, opens the doors at its Williamsburg location Saturday.

The Picklr Williamsburg will be located in The Marquis Shopping Center at 120 Gristmill Plaza.

Pickleball, a paddle sport created some 65 years ago, is played on a court similar to tennis, but smaller, using a plastic ball with holes like a whiffle ball. The sport has exploded in recent years due to its accessibility to players of all skill levels.

At 46,000 square feet and featuring 11-and-a-half courts, ranging from multiple championship-size to skinny warm-up courts, the location offers a number of membership options ranging from those new to the sport to aficionados. Courts are covered with pro-quality surfacing, high-grip Shark Lines, permanent C&D nets, sound reduction baffle matrix systems and low-glare lighting, according to the Utah-based company.

It will also have a space for corporate events, birthday parties, and team-building activities.

“The biggest thing for us is that we want to be a place for all levels. We do stuff with beginners. I work a lot with beginners, coaching people who’ve never played before, and just teaching them how to play the game,” said Chase Stokes, Club Coordinator. “All levels of pickleball are supported at the Pickler.”

Other amenities include a pro shop, showers, a changing room, a locker room, clinics and more. The location also offers sponsorship opportunities.
